There have been some mixed views to restrictions being lifted today (Monday 19th July) on the Yorkshire Coast.

Scarborough and Whitby MP Robert Goodwill told Greatest Hits Radio Yorkshire Coast that now is the right time to ease the rules.

James Rusden runs the Toulson Court B and B in Scarborough with his wife Angela - he explains why they're KEEPING social distancing rules and face coverings in place: "As a small business the dropping of rules really doesn't work for us.

"Me and my wife run it, so if we have to isolate we have to close. We can't shut down for a day and bring in new staff - we are the staff.

"We would have to close for 10 days. I wouldn't want to send everyone home who is here and tell anyone who has booked that they can't come; they probably wouldn't be able to find other accommodation in time to suit their needs.

"Masks will still be required along with social distancing, and we will be enforcing this. We've put a post up on Facebook saying not to come if you don't agree with this, and we're happy to cancel any bookings if people aren't comfortable with this.

"We have started to get cancellations in the last few weeks where people have been pinged by Track and Trace. Please bear in mind that there's lots of small businesses that can't afford to self-isolate".
