It is after yesterday's announcement from the Prime Minister that England's lockdown will ease as planned on Monday (17th May).
Hotel Ellenby in Scarborough, which is a guesthouse, is one of many accomodations that will be welcoming people back
Owner Tony Bates said:
"I think when it first became announced there was talk at the time about being open at Easter and we'd already said we wouldn't be. We think this is the right time to open, I think the confidence is there, all the statistics seem to be going in the right way so we're more than confident to be opening our doors next week.
"I think the frustrating thing is we knew for a long time we'd be likely to open next week but with no guidance. We've just done our own thing, we've taken advice online etcetera but we have got foggers for the rooms to sanitise, sanitisers in the place and we've split breakfast into two sittings.
"Luckily for us, everyone here has been vaccinated so we're maybe less nervous, but the big thing we've got to make people very confident at that when they come we've done everything we can, even things like things in the room that'll be taken out, left for 72 hours before they're returned, and taking some of the soft furnishings out of the rooms as well.
"I think in a way it is harder but I think some lessons will be learnt. I think maybe we'll be over the top having spoken to some other people locally, they're not necessarily as rigid but I think we'll continue that way. For us, the staff and our guests I think it's important that we carry on and not let our guard down.
"The other thing we've done is we've extended our season because we started late so we're going to be open throughout the year, right the way through December. What I would like to see is more encouragement to make Scarborough a year-round venue and maybe seeing more things like festivals and whatever to bring a different type of tourist here."
