There's an appeal to North Yorkshire's Armed forces community to help with this year's poppy appeal.

There is a shortage of volunteers to help sell them in Ripon and Northallerton.

Amanda Clements Hunt is the poppy appeal manager in North Yorkshire:

"Everything is absolutely going very well for North Yorkshire Poppy Appeal, but we do have two large gaps where we need Poppy Appeal support".

"The charity has been around for 102 years. It's really fantastic. The support is incredible, but we are looking for these key people in Ripon and in Northallerton."

"The official launch is the 24th but you will see our teams out in great force from the 26th of October until the 9th of November. I am really hopeful that almost everywhere you go in North Yorkshire, you will be able to make a donation for your poppy."

She says the funds raise provide crucial support: "The armed forces community come to us every single day with specific requirements and that is why our volunteers are incredible. They will do everything they possibly can to supply the poppies so that we can raise that £40 million over that period of time. In North Yorkshire, we will raise about £580,000.
