Police investigation launched after the sudden death of a woman in York

Police are investigation the sudden death of a woman in York today (13th August).

A police cordon on Queen Street, near the train station, was lifted at 5.20pm.

It was put in place following the sudden death of a local woman aged in her 40s which was reported to officers by the ambulance service at 10.41am.

Enquiries are ongoing to determine the cause of death and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

The woman’s family have been informed and offered support.

Anyone with information that could assist enquiries is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 4, and speak to the Force Control Room.
