Police officer reportedly assaulted in Scarborough
A 57-year-old man has been arrested
A 57-year-old man has been arrested, after a police officer was reportedly assaulted in Scarborough.
Officers say they tried to rouse a male who was laying on the ground in Westborough yesterday (24th August), but that he became abusive.
North Yorkshire Police say the man, from Middlesborough, was swearing at officers and members of the public walking by.
They add that during an arrest following an attempt to urinate in a public area, the man headbutted an officer.
On social media, North Yorkshire Police added: 'The Community Impact Team are working closely with partners to cut down on the anti-social behaviour in the town centre. Patrols have increased through the summer and other agencies are involved on ensuring that those who require help, whether medical or psychological, are receiving this in a timely manner to help prevent offending and self-neglect.'
