Older people in Harrogate to receive Valentine's Day treats
Gifts are being delivered to 250 people
250 older people in Harrogate and Knaresborough are set to receive Valentine's Day treats, thanks to Supporting Older People and Rudding Park.
The charity's working with the hotel to make Covid-secure deliveries to the people they support on a daily basis.
Rudding Park’s chefs have created hundreds of homemade treats, including passion fruit chocolate truffles and heart shaped biscuits, that will be carefully gift-wrapped and delivered by a team of volunteers.
All deliveries have been meticulously planned to ensure social distancing and the right safety precautions are put into place to make these deliveries possible.
Julia Featherstone, Rudding Park's Front Office Manager, is spearheading the project. She says: “Being furloughed for much of the last 11 months has not diminished the team’s desire to do what they can to make people smile. In fact this, and having to self-isolate has really highlighted the importance of alleviating isolation”
"With this in mind, we are delighted to have teamed up with Supporting Older People to support the amazing work they do in our wonderful community. As it is Valentine’s Day on Sunday, we wanted to let their members know that we are thinking of them”.
Julia Lightfoot, Supporting Older Peoples Befriending & Activities Manager, said: “We were over the moon to have received a call from Rudding Park to organise this Valentine’s Day treat. Projects like this one make such a difference the members we support, it means a great deal to them that there are people out there who are thinking of them.”
