We're hearing North Yorkshire Police are supporting their colleagues in London this week as many people are expected in the capital to pay their respects to the Queen.

Officers from the county will help with both specialist and general duties.

But we're told it won't adversely impact the level of policing here.

North Yorkshire Police have sent us this statement:

Assistant Chief Constable Elliot Foskett said:

“Like other police forces, North Yorkshire Police is supporting the Metropolitan Police in helping to deal with the significant challenges for them at this very difficult, and very sad time. We are providing both specialist and general duties police officers to work alongside other national colleagues to ensure the safety of the public visiting the capital to pay their respects.

“For operational reasons, we are not at liberty to disclose the specific number of officers. But like all other police forces, we ensure we allocate officers in a way that does not adversely affect the level of policing the public of North Yorkshire receives.”
