North Yorkshire baby loss awareness charity says more people are coming to them for help
A sponsored virtual walk is taking place in March to help raise awareness for baby loss.
Reflect say more people are coming to them for help during the pandemic.
The baby loss awareness charity - who have centres in York, Harrogate, Selby and Thirsk - are fundraising with virtual walks in North Yorkshire throughout March.
The group says: "This will take place at your own pace from 1st - 31st March. You can choose whether you would like to do the 100 mile, 50 mile or 20 mile option.
As you walk around your local area we'll send you virtual postcards of places you would see if you were able to do the actual walk. You can walk/run/cycle as much or as little as you like each day!"
Tanya Allen is the manager at Reflect, and says: "Lots of hospitals still aren't allowing men into scans, or if a woman is miscarrying then they're miscarrying alone.
"A lot of women are still going through this on their own and are really struggling. Imagine going for a 12 week scan expecting good news, but then having to face the sad news on your own that the baby has sadly died.
"We usually help around a hundred people a year, and we've already helped that many people this year. If we can fundraise it means we can get more people to access that support for free.
"For the campaign we'll send postcards, so that if you've walked five miles in your local area we'll send you a postcard as if you've walked somewhere in North Yorkshire. We hope communities and families will be able to get together and walk together within restrictions".
