Warnings children across Yorkshire aren't fully protected against polio

There is a warning that thousands of children across Yorkshire are not fully protected against polio.
Around 10 percent of children under five have not received a booster, according to official figures.
It is after the disease was discovered in waste water in London despite it being eradicated from the country in 2003.
Dr Victoria Turner, Public Health Consultant at North Yorkshire County Council, said: "At the moment no individual cases of polio has actually been identified, but it's a good opportunity to really encourage people who might not be up-to-date with their routine vaccinations to get vaccinated.
"The lower the vaccination rates are the more cause of concern I think there is. There's always a target of around 95 percent for these sorts of vaccinations, including polio vaccinations, and for North Yorkshire we're just under that so there's always room for improvement.
"You can find out whether or not you've been vaccinated by looking at a 'personal child health record' which is more commonly referred to as the 'red book', and that contains a record of all the vaccinations they've been given. So if your child isn't up-to-date with their vaccinations, whether it's polio or any of the others, then you should contact your GP practice."
