There is concern that too many mums in North Yorkshire do not feel confident breastfeeding their babies in public.

It is why the Council has put together a new award to recognise places that have good facilities and create a welcoming environment.

Lucy is a new mum and said: "We started off with quite a difficult start to breastfeeding and it was quite awkward breastfeeding in public because I had to make sure she was latching on correctly, that she was comfortable and I was comfortable which can leave you quite exposed."

Hayley is a new mum too and she said: "It's nice to not feel judged. I think that's one of the challenges with breastfeeding. It's something that's so natural and so good for your baby and you shouldn't feel judged in public, so you should have somewhere you feel comfortable to go."

This mum said: "I absolutely love breastfeeding and it's so special. It would be really nice if other women could experience that."

Another mum said: "It's just a nice to have a little somewhere you can go where you can feel safe."
