We're hearing about a new project this morning which is looking to help vulnerable women and girls in Scarborough

The charity, St Giles Trust has launched Libby Girls service, a specialized mobile unit providing a support service aimed at vulnerable young women aged 14-25 who are at risk of exploitation, gang involvement, or serious violence in the Scarborough area.

The service provides trauma-informed, holistic support to help these young women break free from harmful situations and build positive futures.

Libby GIRLS stands for ‘Growing, Inspiring, Resilient, Leaders,’ and its aim is to be present where young women and girls get-together in the area to be best placed to offer support.

Recent stats show the most commonly committed crime in Scarborough is violence and sexual offences – almost 3000 over a year.

Kelly Broadbent at St Giles Trust said;

“We recognize that young women caught in dangerous circumstances need more than just crisis intervention; they need ongoing support to rebuild their lives.

“Libby Girls is about empowering them to make informed choices, gain confidence, and move forward in life without fear.”
