Horse trainers in North Yorkshire are inviting the public onto their yards today saying they want to help bust any myths around horse welfare.

People will go on a tour before going to watch the animals in action at York racecourse.

The event raises money for racing welfare Beck Edmunds is from the charity.

"The care and attention that they receive is unbelievable, we put the horses before ourselves most of the time, and if you actually go behind the scenes and see how they care for and how much they're loved, you can really, you know, witness that passion from all of the people that are there on the day."

"Ask them all those questions. You know, bust those myths. Find out exactly what goes into getting these race horses to the race course. There's a lot of hard work and effort goes into it."

"And at the end of the day, winning the races is the name of the game. And if you don't look after them properly, they won't win races. So you know they they are treated like kings and Queens."
