There is going to be improvements made to the railway station at Hunmanby.

In the past a community group within the village were given some funding to upgrade the look of the train platforms.

Now the Friends of Hunmanby Railway Station were successful in another bid for money.

Nick Harvey is from there and said:

"We've been very lucky in that we've got a station house owned by John and Monica who've kindly offered a space on their wall for a full sized North Eastern Railway tile map which will be 6 ft by 6 ft 4, paid for by an anonymous donor with a big launch later in the Summer.

"We also put in a grant to TransPennine Express for a healthy walking map of the village to promote walking, looking at how we can get a route around the village for people in wheelchairs, looking at where benches are, marking those out and trying to promote healthy living.

"TransPennine Express were very impressed with the £600 bid we put in, gave us the grant and have very kindly given us another £900 for further improvements to the station with flowers and plants, which is a way of linking in and working with the local community".
