Humberside Police Fed urging us to be kind after two officers left injured
They're going to be working more closely with the force to protect frontline workers
Two officers from Humberside Police were taken to hospital following a reported disturbance at a pub on Friday.
The police federation - who support officers across the East Riding of Yorkshire - say it’s not fair on emergency service workers who are simply 'doing their jobs.'
Lee Sims, Chair, Humberside Police Federation, said:
“There’s nearly always an element of danger especially when attended disturbances at pubs and people have been drinking. But that is no excuse to assault police officers who are only there doing their jobs and protecting the public.
“They should be expected like anyone else to go home to their families at the end of their working day – not to be taken to the hospital.”
The federation will be working closely with the force to prevent future attacks on officers.
Lee Sims added:
“The federation are always working closely with the force – asking them to review risk assessments when sending officers to disturbances and other incidents where they may encounter violent situations.”
