A man has been jailed for more than four-and-a-half years after sexually assaulting a teenage girl as she rode a horse in North Yorkshire.

Nathan McCracken, from Norton, admitted one charge of sexual assault and two counts of breaches of a sexual harm prevention order which he was already subject to.

The 29-year-old drove past the 17-year-old girl between York and Malton last July, when he got out of the car and assaulted her.

She then reported McCracken to police.

Speaking about today’s sentencing, Detective Constable Philip Freebrey of Scarborough Criminal Investigation Department said: “McCracken acted in a predatory manner, driving passed the victim and assessing the fact that she was alone in a isolated location, before going back to assault her.

“I’d like to thank the victim for her bravery in coming forward and making a report after a terrifying event. Thanks to her, McCracken is now behind bars."
