Harrogate’s vaccinators have been praised by the district’s MP, with him hailing them as "heroes".

Andrew Jones has thanked those who’ve helped to deliver over 208,000 jabs locally.

113,000 first doses of the vaccine have been given and 95,000 second doses across Harrogate district.

Mr Jones, said: "I had my vaccine at the Showground and it was just so organised and such a calm and positive atmosphere. Everyone had a smile on their face, not just those receiving the vaccine but the staff too. It was great to see.

"They've been absolutely heroic. They've been selfless and reassuring and it's been a real team effort.

"The team who have delivered this have done the most brilliant job. Whether its the doctor teams or volunteers and it has been a magnificent thing which has been achieved."

As part of our #MeetTheVaccinator special we shone a light on those helping to unlock the country by working in vaccination sites.

We spoke with Stephanie Davis who has been working for the NHS in Harrogate for the last 15 years, more recently as the Matron at the Trust's Emergency and Urgent care centre.

She was one of the first people administer a vaccine in the district at the Great Yorkshire Showground in December last year. Since then, she's vaccinated thousands of people.

Some famous faces who have been vaccinating are 2019 Bake off winner David Atherton, issuing jabs in London, former Elvis impersonator-turned-GP Andy Mason in Suffolk and Drag Race contestant Cherry Valentine dishing out the vaccine in Lancashire.
