Teenager rescued in Goathland after trapping foot and dislocating knee
Emergency services were called to Mallyan Spout yesterday
A teenager has been rescued by emergency services after an incident in Goathland.
It happened yesterday (Sunday 22nd August) at Mallyan Spout when North Yorkshire Police, Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service were called to reports of a boy with a suspected dislocated knee.
The teenager got it after trapping his foot in West Beck at the foot of the Mallyan Spout waterfall.
Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team said:
"Initial report suggested that while the water was not deep rescue by those on scene had failed due to the rocks being too slippery and that the youth was still trapped.
"Upon arrival our first team members on scene determined that he had managed to extract himself and his knee had appeared to have gone back into alignment.
"The group had made their way half way back up the track to the village so it turned out to be a simple escort up the rest of the track to a waiting ambulance for further assessment of the injury. Fifteen team members deployed for an hour and a half."
