A former sub-postmaster on the Yorkshire Coast has warned of a potential "scandal in a scandal" over compensation given to the victims.

Christopher Trousdale from Whitby says some have been forced to hand back thousands because of bankruptcy orders.

They were given the money after being wrongly prosecuted, in what is considered one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in British history.

Christopher was wrongly accused of theft and fraud due to an IT error and says it still impacts him today: "It's hard to describe the distress and pain from an injustice of this size. Many of the victims unfortunately aren't coping with it very well still after all these years. It hasn't been helped with the fact that we're still having to fight.

"Can you imagine having to fight for nearly 20 years to clear your name and then when there's finally a chance you might get a shred of your dignity back, to have that pulled away from you through no fault of your own and by a bankruptcy order that was made against you by the perpetrator.

"We need some closure as well as still fighting for compensation and true justice. We want to see those responsible held to account."
