We're being encouraged to bring our furry friends along while shopping in Harrogate today (Saturday 26 June 2021) as it is Commercial Street's first ever dog friendly day.

It's as retailers wanted to put their own spin on Take Your Dog to Work Day.

The Harrogate Vet, Peach & Pooch Pet Shop, Yappy Feet dog walker and groomer, Miss Mollies Rescue a local charity, Harrogate Bowen & Bioresonance and Pooches Galore Dog Therapist will all be there from 10.30am - 3.30pm.

The doggy businesses will each have a stand and be offering treats, doggy bags, competitions and expert advice.

Sue Kramer, owner of Crown Jewellers on Commercial Street, said: "The different businesses coming into the street are offering competitions, doggy bags and treats and then of course we have our independent retailers so you can make a day of it on Commercial Street.

"It's an opportunity to say to locals that we're here and hopefully meet some new people who might not otherwise come and shop on the street because they didn't know they could bring their dog.

"We've got dog bowls outside all the shops with outdoor space so whenever you visit Harrogate you know your pets can be catered for.

"We can't wait to see all the different varieties of dogs!"
