Emergency response volunteers are wanted on the Yorkshire Coast.

It is where people can be called upon to help if there is an urgent need to support someone in the community, like supporting people after they are discharged from hospital with picking up shopping or prescription.

Fiona Longhurst is from the Royal Voluntary Service and said:

"The idea is that you're on our sort of 'reserve list' and you can be called upon if a need arises in your area.

"It's because we wanted to have resilience and I think the pandemic has shown that we never know what's round the corner and at RVS we like to say 'we hope for the best but prepare for the worst', so what we want to do is build this bank of volunteers who are ready to leap into action.

"They are kind of reservists who the beauty of that is they'd get a variety of different roles to dip into and on their terms in whatever time they can give is much appreciated."
