Police are appealing for information following an incident where an 85-year-old man was caused to fall whilst protecting his dog from an attack by another in Harrogate.

It happened in Hall Lane Park, near to the Richard Taylor Church of England Primary School, on Tuesday 19th November between 7pm and 7.30pm.

The elderly man was walking his labrador dog when it was attacked and injured by a white pit-bull-type dog, which was unmuzzled, out-of-control, off the lead and being walked by two young men.

Officers say the pensioner fell over whilst trying to protect his dog and was left feeling very shaken and upset.

The men with the attacking dog are described as white, aged around 20-years-old and wearing dark clothing. Following the incident they both left the park without providing any details.

Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or can help us to identify the young men and the attacking dog.
