In support of national tree planting week (27th Nov – 5th Dec) Easingwold Cricket Club (ECC) are hosting a community tree planting event.

In partnership with HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Green Canopy project and The Woodland Trust, ECC with help from Easingwold Community Primary School children, are planting a specimen tree and 120 hedgerow saplings to improve biodiversity, improve the community’s health and wellbeing and help tackle climate change.

Ian Connell, Chairman at Easingwold Cricket Club says:

"We are delighted to be supporting The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee campaign, working with The Woodland Trust, and partnering with Easingwold Community Primary School.

"Our contribution may be modest but will contribute to a healthier environment whilst encouraging wildlife to prosper. Whilst playing cricket clearly helps improve the physical health and mental wellbeing of our players, we care about everyone in our community.

"We want to provide healthier opportunities for all as well as developing a popular community facility. Our large picturesque green space in the centre of town is perfectly situated, so we are continually investing to improve it for visitors who spectate a match or join in the many other activities held at the club".

On Wednesday 17th November at 13:30 ECC will join The Woodland Trust, Easingwold Community Primary School, The Womens Institute and The Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Mrs Jo Ropner, for a tree talk, tree planting demonstration and ceremonial tree planting for The Queens Green Canopy project where ECC will plant a tree supporting The Queen’s Platinum Jubillee.
