The daughter of a Covid-19 survivor is hoping to raise over £10,000 for Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust - who she says saved her dad's life.

Victoria Read's father spent three months at the hospital. Just before Christmas his health rapidly deteriorated and he was put into an induced coma and on a ventilator for three weeks.

Now he's out of hospital and on the road to recovery, Victoria's pledged to give back to the Trust, by raising thousands of pounds for Harrogate Hospital and Community Charity.

She told Greatest Hits: "This virus is very unpredictable and he deteriorated quite a lot. He was put on a ventilator in December and as a family it's one of the most horrific things you can go through. It's really difficult.

"We saw as a family first hand all of the work the key workers did - the doctors, nurses, porters, cleaners. They all saved my dad's life and I don't think I will ever forget that."

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Victoria has started a “say it without flowers” campaign and is asking people to consider donating the money they might usually spend on Valentine’s Day to the hospital's charity.

Since launching the campaign, they've already raised over £2000.

Victoria said there's no way to be able to repay the staff in full for saving her dad.

She said: "Staff and the nurses and doctors were amazing at keeping us informed. They allowed us to call at night even though he couldn't hear us. That made us feel so much more connected to him.

"They were incredible and that's a major catalyst in wanting to do this fundraiser. We can never show enough gratitude to them and if we can do just a few things to show them we are thankful and we are thinking of them during such a difficult time. They're risking everything to save people they don't know."
