We're hearing how volunteers are hosting events in North Yorkshire to make sure no one is spends Christmas alone.

The Communi-tea hub in Selby is one of the place opening it's doors for the big day.

John Venable is a volunteering co ordinator: "We have a lot of people that come in here and you look at mental health, the mental health is around loneliness a lot of the time and isolation and so we try and make it as inclusive as we can in here and there is a really good peer to peer support network."

"We are opening on Christmas day because we found a real need for it last year, so many people used the centre, had no where to go, didn't have family and were just sat on their own on Christmas day in front of the telly, or just wandering around the town on their own."

"We had a great time last year and this year again we're hoping to have an equally great time, we got a lot of support last year from Sainsbury's, they brought over loads of food and turkey's and all sorts of things."
