A breakfast club has been launched for members of York's Armed Forces.

The local authority has said it's open to all hopes it'll be a way for people to meet face to face and share experiences.

It's happening at a number of locations on the first Saturday of the month.

When and where are the breakfast clubs?

  • The Dick Turpin - First Saturday of the month from 9.30am (10 am start) to 12pm
  • The Toby Carvery - Second Saturday of the month from 9.30am (10 am start) to 12pm
  • The Saddle Inn - The last Saturday of each month from 9.30am (10 am start) to 12pm

A City of York Council spokesperson said:

“People can come along to enjoy breakfast and banter with others who have similar, shared experiences, which can help to combat the loneliness that some veterans feel when they leave service."

There are no fees and people only have to pay for their own breakfast. The clubs do not exist to raise funds for any charity, organisation or business and are purely social events.
