Scarborough and Whitby MP, Robert Goodwill, says we have to balance the needs of the economy during the lockdown.

He's been explaining why some take-aways and drive-thrus are open, when in the lockdown last March they weren't.

That's despite the new variant of Coronavirus reportedly being much more infectious and the number of cases and deaths rising.

Robert says the virus isn't spreading as much in outdoor settings.

He said:

"There are certainly those in the medical profession, that would want a complete shutdown of the entire economy.

As a government, we have to take a view as to what the economic impact of what some of those measures might be and take a balanced view between the two and that's the difficult situation that ministers and in particular the Prime Minister face."

Robert's also agreeing with fellow Tory Yorkshire coast MP Kevin Hollinrake - who said this week he thought we'd be out of all restrictions by the middle of April.
