Plans are underway to hold another Filey Food and Drink Festival next month.

It is set to make a return around the Evron Centre and Crescent Gardens in the town on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th August.

It is hoped the event will be bigger this time due to restrictions being lifted as it was previously held last month.

Philip Armitage, Manager of the Evron Centre, said:

"Everybody enjoyed the way that we'd run the market because obviously we had to run it to stick to the legal regulations; we had social distancing, a one way station and we had to reduce the number of stalls but it still made for a great day out for everybody and the feedback we had from both the stallholders and the public has been fantastic.

"The attendance numbers for June were certainly a lot higher than what they were last August. It was great to see lots of new faces, lots of families coming as well and it was just a great event. I think people have just gotten used to it because it's normally held three times a year and last year we were hoping to hold it five times but we couldn't due to restrictions.

"If regulations allow, we were hoping to enlarge the event next month but obviously that's up to higher management to look at that situation but we'll just offer a great, wide variety of stalls; we're looking at more vegetarian options, we've got stalls doing scotch eggs, Korean food, Yorkshire gin, everything you can think of and maybe artisan chocolates but maybe in October because it might be a bit too hot in August to put those out.

"We enjoy seeing people here and we do try and change the stalls as much as we can but we try and keep the regular stalls here as well, as people will come to Filey Food Fest because a particular stall is there and I think that's really important. I think the success of it is that we work closely with stallholders as well so we get a lot of feedback from them".
