More help available for Scarborough residents who feel lonely or isolated
Age UK are holding some new weekly groups and activities from tomorrow
There is more help available for people in Scarborough who are feeling lonely or isolated.
Groups and activities are being put on by Age UK although they are not JUST for older people.
They include lunch dates, book clubs, coffee mornings and quizzes.
Tracy Armstrong, Volunteers Co-ordinator at the charity, said:
"My mum's 72 and I was speaking to her and she said how lonely she is even though she's got all her family around her, she's lonely and bored of doing the same thing day in day out.
"The older generation are a bit scared to come out at the moment with everything that's happening in the world but it's trying to do something that can entice them to come out, make new friends and stop loneliness. I don't like to know that anybody is lonely and sat in on their own everyday."
