Two men jailed for car theft in Shotesham all Saints
It happened just after midnight on Thursday 5 June.
Two men have been sentenced to over five years in prison for stealing a car in Shotesham all Saints.
Nathan Pitchford, aged 46, of Gertrude Road, Norwich, and Mark Sutton, aged 52, of The Mallows Walk, Norwich appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday charged with multiple offences related to the theft.
The incident happened at just after midnight on Thursday 5 June 2025, at a property on The Street.
The victim was woken by her barking dog and found that her property had been broken into via the back door, with her handbag, Mini Cooper car and two bicycles stolen. The two bicycles were later located a short distance from the property.
Bank cards belonging to the victim were used at establishments on Magdalen Road and Plumstead Road in Norwich a short time later, and officers were able to use this information to locate the suspects.
At 3.05am on Woodcock Road, Norwich, officers deployed a stinger, stopping the stolen vehicle, and arrested four people on suspicion of offences connected to the incident. Two suspects were taken to Aylsham Police Investigation Centre, and the other two were taken to Wymondham PIC.
Pitchford and Sutton were later charged with burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, and going equipped for a burglary. Pitchford was further charged with fraud by false representation.
The other two arrested passengers were released on bail, and no further action will be taken against them.
At Norwich Crown Court on Thursday, Nathan Pitchford, aged 46, was given three years imprisonment, ordered to pay £228 surcharge, and was disqualified from driving for two and half years.
Mark Sutton, aged 52, was given two years and four months imprisonment, and ordered to pay £228 surcharge.
Investigating officer PC Jackson said: “These crimes have had a significant impact on the victim, damaging her sense of safety in her own home. We hope this outcome provides reassurance to residents that we are committed to pursuing offenders and putting them before the courts.”
