Man charged after firework hit crowd outside King's Lynn Fawkes in the Walks display
Another man in his twenties has been released with no further action.
A man’s been charged in connection with a firework that was thrown into the crowd from outside the Fawkes in the Walks display earlier this month. It follows the arrest of a man in his twenties on Saturday 23 November 2024.
Aidas Berzinskas, age 23 from Kings Green in Fairstead, King’s Lynn has been charged with four counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, three counts of criminal damage and one count of firing a firework into a highway/street/public place.
He has been bailed with conditions and is due to appear at King’s Lynn Magistrates Court on 9 January 2025.
Another man in his twenties, arrested on 15 November 2024, has been released with no further action.
Commenting on the event, Cllr Bal Anota, Cabinet Member for Events and Public Open Space, said, “A record number of people came to enjoy our free fireworks display and entertainment in The Walks on Friday.
"It was a fantastic event and great to see many families enjoy it.
“I was disappointed to hear that, despite the borough council putting on a professionally run display, a property outside the park decided to set off their own fireworks minutes after our display had finished, with a wayward firework entering the crowd in The Walks.
“I was concerned to hear that four people suffered minor injuries from this firework, but reassuringly we had medical support on hand from a Doctor and Paramedics as part of our safety team who were able to help them so they could walk away from the park after they treated their wounds.
"I thank the staff for their quick actions and wish the four attendees a speedy recovery.”
