Teenager suffers life-threatening injuries in Newcastle crash
Emergency services were called to a collision yesterday afternoon
A 16-year-old girl is in a life-threatening condition after she was hit by a car in Newcastle.
She was one of two people hurt in a crash in the High Heaton area of the city yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 26th November 2025).
Northumbria Police say the driver involved is assisting with their enquiries.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said:
"Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a teenage girl sustained life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a vehicle in Newcastle.
"At 3.45pm yesterday (Wednesday), police received a report via the ambulance service of a collision on Newton Road in the High Heaton area of the city.
"It was reported that a white MG ZS car had struck two girls, both aged 16, as they crossed the road.
"Emergency services attended and one of the girls was found to have sustained life-threatening injuries in the incident.
"She was taken to hospital for treatment where she remains.
"The other girl sustained minor injuries and was checked over by paramedics at the scene.
"The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene following the collision to assist officers with their enquiries.
"Enquiries into the collision are ongoing and officers are appealing to anyone with information to contact them."
Police are particularly keen to hear from those with dash cam footage of the moments leading up to the incident.
