County Durham veteran charity tells us about the importance of Armistice Day
A two-minute silence is being held across the UK
A County Durham veterans charity tells us what Armistice Day means to veterans across the region.
Today (11th November) a two-minute silence is being held at 11 o'clock to remember those who have died in conflict.
Communities across the region will be coming together to remember the lives lost and mark the day World War One ended in 1918.
Andrew Cammiss, CEO and founder of East Durham Veterans Trust, said: "A great opportunity for the whole of the North East community at 11 o'clock to just stand still wherever you are.
"Be quiet, reflect and just remember as we wouldn't be where we are today.
"From World War I where it all started, into World War II and all the conflicts that we've had since.
"It's more classed as our day of remembrance and just to remember our time in service, remembering the experiences we've had, remembering our friends and comrades that are unfortunately not with us anymore."
