World Aids Day
Manchester set to remember those who've lost their lives to HIV and Aids.
Thousands of people across the region will join together today to celebrate world aids day. HIV first emerged over 30 years ago - since then around 34 million people have died from HIV or Aids. Now though according to the World Health Organisation treatment is better than ever and if it's spotted early enough there's a much better chance of survival. Events are taking place across Manchester to raise awareness and encourage people to get themselves tested. Patrick Ennes was diagnosed as being HIV positive ten years ago and has been asked to deliver the closing speech at a candlelit vigil in Sackville Gardens tonight.
