Woman raped in Manchester city centre
Police trawl through CCTV
Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was raped in the city centre.
Sometime between 3am and 4am on Tuesday 11 April 2017 a 40 year-old woman left Lola Lo’s nightclub on Deansgate Locks and got into what she believed to be a taxi.
The next thing the woman recalls was her attack, which she describes as being by water. The woman was pinned against a wall and raped before managing to run away towards Laystall Street.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Mossop from GMP’s Serious Sexual Offences Unit said: “We don’t have much information about what happened to this woman, but what we do know is that she has gone through a terrifying ordeal.
“We have launched a rape investigation and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously, or may have seen the woman in distress to come and talk to police.
“We are hoping with your help we can fill in the blanks and find this man.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 1831 or alternatively via 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
