Woman fighting for her life after stabbing near Manchester Velodrome
A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after she was attacked in Clayton - near to the Manchester Velodrome.
Police were called just before 5.10am on Saturday morning to reports a woman had been assaulted in a property on Bank Street.
The 30-year-old was found with serious injuries and was rushed to hospital.
A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
He is currently also in hospital where he is being treated for other injuries.
A cordon was put in place while police and forensic officers investigated on Saturday afternoon.
Detective Inspector Gary Smith, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: “This was a horrific attack that has left an innocent woman in hospital with several serious injuries.
“Whilst we have made an arrest and are treating this as an isolated incident, I want to stress that our investigation is still in its very early stages and enquiries are ongoing.
“I would appeal to anyone with any information that could assist our investigation to please get in touch.”
