Witness Appeal Over Fallowfield Rape

Officers investigating the rape of a woman in Fallowfield are appealing for a key witness to come forward.

The 19-year-old was on her way home from a night out in Manchester City Centre on Wednesday the 7th of October, when she was raped sometime between midnight and 4.30am.

During this time she came into contact with a key witness, who police believe could assist the investigation.

She spoke with a man who was stood at a bus stop on Wilmslow Road in Fallowfield, who then walked her home down Wilmslow Road in the direction of Sainsbury’s and McDonalds.

This man’s described as white, around 18-19 years old, skinny build and with brown messy hair styled into a quiff. He was wearing black skinny jeans and a black leather jacket. It is believed this man could be a student.

Police are hoping to speak to him as a witness.

Detective Inspector Damian Simpson of the Serious Sexual Offences Unit said:

“This witness could hold vital clues to what happened to this young woman, so it is very important that we speak to him.

"We are doing everything we can to identify the attacker.

"We are appealing for this witness to come forward but anyone else who may have any information should get in touch. You may think your information is trivial, but it could be vital to our investigation, so please call us and tell us what you know.

"We would like to reassure the public that we believe this is an isolated incident."
