WATCH: The World Learns Lessons from GMP

The lessons learned from the Rochdale grooming scandal are being shared globally to help police across the world deal with Child Sexual Exploitation.

Volunteers from Greater Manchester Police have been on a charity mission to Ethiopia to share tactics on how to deal with grooming and trafficking, as part of RETRAK's Building Futures Volunteer Programme, which aims to help and support street children living in Uganda and Ethiopia.

WATCH: Chief Constable Ian Hopkins tells us why it's something close to his heart:

Former Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police Sir Peter Fahy is now CEO of RETRAK. Over the last five years he has used the expertise of Greater Manchester Police to help shape the future of forces in Africa, particularly in dealing with issues such as child abuse, neglect, exploitation and trafficking.

WATCH: He tells us why Manchester can also learn a lot from projects overseas:

A number of volunteers from both GMP and GMFRS gave up their time, unpaid, to attend the charity mission to Ethiopia in December last year.

At a special 'thank you' event on Monday the team presented Retrak with a cheque for over £76k.
