A petition calling for Salford council to rethink it's policy of collecting general waste bins once every three weeks has reached over 9000 signatures.

The council switched to collecting general waste bins once every three weeks in several areas including Irlam, Cadishead and Little Hulton.

One mum who lives in Irlam said the council decision has left the area looking like a dump as people leave rubbish in the street.

In a statement Salford council say the move could save them £1 million as well as encouraging people to recycle.
