Police investigating an assault in a pub in Stockport have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to in connection with attack. At around 2am on Saturday 14th May a man was assaulted in the George pub on Wellington Road North, Stockport. The offender hit the victim with an unknown implement, which caused him to fall to the floor, before he attempted to stamp on the victim’s head but was restrained by staff at the bar. The 28-year-old man suffered a large cut above his left eye and went to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries. Detective Constable Jane Dodd of GMP’s Stockport borough, said: “We have already released images from the night of the assault but I’m hoping this moving footage will help people to identify the man featured. “Someone may recognise the man’s walk or his stature and, with the CCTV images, may be able to identify him. “If anyone recognises the man in the CCTV, please contact us as soon as possible.” Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 8840 quoting 087199N/16 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
