Warrington to hold tribute concert for Viola Beach
Friends, family and fans will gather next month to celebrate the life and achievements of the late British Indie band, Viola Beach.
Kris, Tom, Jack, River and their manager Craig died after their hire car plunged off a bridge over 80 feet into icy waters. They were heading back to their hotel after a festival they’d played at in Stockholm in the early hours of February 13th.
Viola Beach were due to perform at their home town in Warrington later this month just before they were set to perform in America. Instead the band’s family and friends have organised a tribute concert to commemorate the achievements on April 2nd.
Tickets for the ‘celebration night’ went on sale from 9am on Friday morning and feature a line-up of influenced bands, peers, friends and will be compered by DJ Phil Taggart. It’s also been revealed that the proceeds from the concert will go to the families of the band members and their manager.
Talking to Key 103, Tom Jennings a close friend of the band members said: “Throughout the past couple of weeks we’ve been remembering all the funny stories that we’ve got and the hilarious moments that we’ve shared with them.”
“They lived to be on the road and lived to be on the stage and they wanted to take all their friends and family with them and I think to be able to remember that and cherish that at a gig with all these people is going to be something really special, it’s going to be something to remember for a lifetime”
He added: “I think we’re definitely going to get a sell out because this is going to be something incredibly special.”
