Victims of crime in Greater Manchester will be able to access different support and advice services under one roof thanks to changes announced today by Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd.

The new system will see services such as counselling, emotional support, police liaison officers housed together in various ‘hubs’ across the city.

It’s part of a new approach which has been planned for over two and a half years as police and victim support work together to try to make like easier for anyone who’s been a victim of crime.

Tracy Shelvey from Middleton took her own life after finding out the man she accused of raping her was found not guilty while Frances Andrade committed suicide after giving evidence against her former teacher.

Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd said: “we can’t stop people becoming victims but what we can do is one they’ve become victims, far more acceptable.”
