Two arrested in Salford attempted murder investigation
The victim was shot three times after a gig at Kingston Mill.
Police have arrested two men on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot outside a music venue in Salford.
The victim, in his 20s, was targeted after a gig at Kingston Mill on Cobden Street on Friday 23rd November. He was taken to hospital and was later released to recover at home.
This morning warrants were executed at five properties in Prestwich, Salford, Crumpsall, Manchester and Kent. As a result two men, aged 35 and 39, have been taken into custody for questioning.
Scenes currently remain in place at the properties and there will be an increased visible police presence in the areas while officers continue their investigations.
Police are reassuring the local community that the incident is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider community, either in the Cobden Street area or those areas where this morning’s warrants have been executed.
Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin of GMP’s Major Incidents Team said: “We are making good progress with our investigations and have this morning taken two men into custody.
“I’d like to stress again that we believe this shooting was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider community.
“While we have made two arrests, our investigations continue and we have set up a dedicated dropbox where people can leave any mobile phone footage they feel might assist our enquiries.
“This facility is totally anonymous and any footage deposited there will be treated in the strictest confidence.
“Perhaps you attended the club night at Kingston Mill on the evening of November 23 or were in the area at the time of the incident?
“Even the smallest piece of information can open up new lines of enquiry and help officers solve crimes likes this.
“If you have any footage, pictures or information that you think might assist us – then please get in touch.”
Officers are continuing to appeal to anyone with information to come forward and have set up a dedicated dropbox facility where mobile footage can be left anonymously.
The anonymous dropbox facility can be accessed by sending footage and information via email to scd.cctv@gmp.police.uk quoting incident number 504 of 24/11/2018.
