An estimated capacity of over 40,000 people will be attending the 'We are Manchester' event this weekend so expertise will be in place to keep everyone moving.

John Fryer, Transport for Greater Manchester and Event Planning Lead, said:

“We have been working hard with event organisers and partners and we are confident that our transport plans will help to support what promises to be poignant and special occasion for the city.

“Public transport will provide the best and quickest way of getting around and you should plan your journey in advance, allowing a little bit of extra time as it is going to be busy across the city centre.

All of Greater Manchester’s park and ride sites will be open.

As many trams as possible will be running until 1:30am, along with free metro- shuttle services directly to the arena. Services can be boarded at either Victoria or Piccadilly stations.

A normal rail timetable is in place, bus and train passengers are advised to check in advance with their operator for the latest information.

Enhanced security measures and bag checks will be in operation so Manchester Arena are advising guests to arrive as early as possible.

Doors to the arena will open at 5pm, full details of the event can be found at: http://www.manchester-arena.com/events/we-are-manchester/6069/
