Three arrested following burglary and robbery in Altrincham
A family, on Lloyd Gardens, were threatened with a machete
Three people have been arrested after a robbery and burglary in Altrincham.
Officers were called to reports that armed thieves had entered a property on Lloyd Gardens on Tuesday evening.
Six offenders - one armed with a machete - broke into a house through the front door and threatened a man, woman and her young child.
The victims managed to lock an internal door in the property and protect themselves from the group before the offenders then fled the scene towards Altrincham town centre.
Detectives are treating this incident as linked to an earlier robbery that occurred shortly before 5pm on Stamford New Road. Officers attended and found that two teenagers had been approached by five offenders who threatened the boys and demanded they hand over their valuables. The offenders then made off with the boy’s coats, wallets and money.
An investigation was launched into both these incidents and police later arrested two 16-year-old boys, and a 20-year-old man on suspicion of robbery.
Chief Inspector Jon Kelly, from GMP’s Trafford borough, said: “We currently have three people in custody arrested in relation to these incidents, and they will be questioned by detectives.
“Although we have made these arrests, our enquiries are very much ongoing and I would appeal for witnesses who may have seen what happened or knows who is responsible to please come forward to police.
“I am also keen to find out if there are any other victims who have not yet come forward and I would appeal to these individuals to report it to police.”
