Thousands Raised for Lucy

The best friend of a Bury girl who suffered serious injuries in a moped crash in Thailand is thanking everyone for their support.

Lucy Hill was involved in a moped crash in Bangkok at the weekend and suffered severe bleeding and broken bones.

After a number of blood transfusions an appeal was set up for donors for her rare blood type 'A' negative.

Dozens of people started queuing outside the hospital to help and a fundraising page has been set-up to help her family. Her mum has flown out to Thailand to be by her bedside.

Darren Burns has known Lucy for almost seven years.

He launched an appeal on Facebook and is now asking people to keep donating to their fundraising page. He told us, "Lucy's mum Alison has left her job here to be by her daughter's bedside. Her dad is trying to support them from back home in Manchester but any money the people can spare will go along way in supporting the family at this terrible time."
