Hospital campaigners in Wigan have been out in force to show their support for the NHS after this week of extreme weather.

With the Beast from the East closely followed by Storm Emma- emergency services have been stretched.

Andrew Burchall- an organiser of the protest says they're campaigning against cuts and privatisation- after a week of even more pressure than usual.

“We’re there for them, because they’re always there for us and we need them.

“You’ve seen it where they’re walking 10 miles in the snow so they can look after us.

“They can’t demonstrate like this, so people like us have to do it for them.

“Whether it’s a natural disaster like it has been with the snow, or there’s terrorism, our services, the NHS, the ambulance, the police, the fire, they’re always there for us.

“They’re busy looking after us day in, day out so they’re essential public service, an absolute necessity.

“Everybody has their story to tell about the health service, it is cradle to grave, it was designed for that.
