Teenager left with serious head injuries after attack while waiting for a taxi

A man suffered serious head injuries during an assault in Manchester City Centre.
Shortly after 3:05am on Sunday 2 December 2018, police were called to reports of an assault that took place in a taxi queue outside Deansgate Locks.
An 18-year-old man was stood in the queue when he was assaulted by another man.
The victim was left with serious head injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
A 19-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of Section 18 assault and has since been released under investigation.
Detective Constable Michael Baylay of GMP’s City of Manchester division said: “This was a horrific incident that has left one man with serious injuries to his head and face.
“I want to reassure the public that we will not tolerate this kind of behaviour in Manchester and we have now launched an investigation to bring the offender to justice.
“The area was extremely busy at the time and I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed this incident take place, to get in touch with police at Longsight police station on 0161 856 9272”.
