Teenager jailed after "brutal" attack on 14-year-old boy
A 16-year-old, who can't be named for legal reasons, has been sentenced to 12 years after being found guilty of attempted murder
A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempted murder following a stabbing in North Manchester.
Manchester Crown Court heard that the attack occurred on 26 February 2024 when the boy, then aged 15, stabbed a 14-year-old victim on his doorstep on Stovell Avenue in Levenshulme.
The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he spent two weeks recovering from life-changing injuries.
An investigation by North Manchester CID swiftly identified the suspect, leading to his arrest on 27 February 2024. He was subsequently charged with attempted murder and later pleaded guilty at trial.
Detectives revealed that the victim was not the intended target but another individual who was also present at the address.
Detective Constable James Carter of North Manchester district commented on the severity of the case, stating:
“The victim is extremely fortunate to have survived this brutal attack, although he will carry the injuries for the rest of his life. This was a senseless act that highlights the devastating impact of knife crime. Carrying a knife can only lead to injury, death, or imprisonment – there are no positive outcomes.
If you or someone you know is carrying a knife, I urge you to speak out and seek help before it is too late.”
