Teenager 'seriously injured' in daytime shooting in Newton Heath
Police were called to Scotland Hall Road just after 5pm on Friday afternoon
A teenage boy has been left with serious injuries after a shooting in Newton Heath on Friday.
Police were called to Scotland Hall Road shortly after 5.15pm on Friday 13th April, to reports of shots fired.
When they arrived, they found the teenager with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to hospital where he is said to be recovering.
Two boys, aged 16 and 14, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody for questioning.
Police are now appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
Detective Inspector Claire McGuide of GMP's City of Manchester team, said:
"A young man has been left with serious injuries as a result of this incident and that is why it's vital that we find the people responsible.
"While we've made two arrests, we are in the early stages of the investigation and our enquiries into the full circumstances around how this man came to be shot continues.
"It is important that members of the public who can help us to identify those who were at the scene at the time of the shooting contact police.
"People in the area will see increased patrols and I'd urge anyone with detail that could help out investigation, or with any concerns, to speak to these officers directly.
