16 year old boy charged with the murder of a man in Wigan
Paul Marsh died on Friday evening
Detectives investigating the death of a man in Wigan have charged a 16 year old boy with murder.
Police were called to a property on Samuel Street in Atherton at about 6pm on Friday 17th November.
Officers attended and found a 49-year-old man with a serious injury. Despite best efforts of the emergency services, he tragically passed away a short time later.
He was later identified as Paul Marsh and his family have asked for continued privacy whilst they grieve for their loss and are also being kept updated with the progress of this investigation.
A 16-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons has since been charged with murder.
He's remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester Youth Court on Wednesday 22 November 2023.
Paul's family paid tribute earlier this week:
“Paul was our son, brother, partner and father and he was loved unconditionally. Paul’s death is beyond comprehension, and we cannot believe that he has died in such a violent and tragic way.
“Paul will be remembered for many things not least, his laughter, loyalty, and sense of fun.
“Paul will not be forgotten, and our world is a sadder place without him in it.”
